Why the ASA Designation Matters

The Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation represents a high standard of professional competency within the appraisal profession. Earning the ASA designation requires extensive valuation education, demonstrated appraisal experience, successful completion of rigorous examinations, peer review of appraisal reports, and an ongoing commitment to professional ethics and continuing education.

For clients, lenders, attorneys, and financial professionals, working with an ASA-designated appraiser provides confidence that valuation conclusions are supported by recognized methodologies, sound analysis, and established professional standards. The ASA credential is widely recognized by financial institutions, courts, government agencies, and legal professionals as evidence of advanced appraisal expertise.

At Truman Mox, we believe that professional credentials matter because they demonstrate a commitment to delivering objective, credible, and defensible valuation opinions.

Experience Beyond Appraisal

What differentiates Truman Mox is the combination of appraisal expertise and real-world financial experience.

Prior to founding Truman Mox, Joseph Marino served as Vice President of Commercial Lending for two regional publicly traded banks. In those roles, he evaluated commercial credit requests, analyzed collateral positions, and reviewed equipment appraisals from the perspective of a lender. This experience provides a unique understanding of what banks, credit committees, and asset-based lenders expect when relying upon equipment valuations.

Following his banking career, Mr. Marino served for more than a decade as Chief Financial Officer of a multi-state operating company generating approximately $60 million in annual revenue. As CFO, he was responsible for financial reporting, asset management, acquisitions, budgeting, operational analysis, and strategic planning.

This combination of appraisal, lending, and executive management experience allows Truman Mox to approach machinery and equipment valuations with a broader understanding of business operations, financing considerations, collateral risk, and marketplace realities.
